I often have friends and 'students' who come to learn various aspects of the sundial maker's art and craft.  John came to acquire milling machine expertise and to finish off his Double Horizontal sundial with its special gnomon made in solid brass.  It was then tried out on my 'Sundial Testbed' with its accurate inlaid Meridian Line.
